Scam Callers Are On The Rise!
APFCU Members, Please Be Cautious of Phone Scammers!
We've been getting increasing numbers of reports stating scam callers, claiming to be Shazam Card Services (our debit card servicer) or the credit union itself, are targeting our members and asking for sensitive personal information, including but not limited to:
- Full debit card info, including CVC codes and zip codes
- Member addresses
- Social Security Numbers
- Member birthdates
The trickiest part of this situation is the scammers are using official phone numbers, both Shazam and our very own, to make these calls. This is the Shazam phone number reported of being used for these scam calls: 515-288-2828
If you receive a call from this number, please ignore the phone call. Note: because of caller ID systems, the number may show as "Shazam" or "Shazam Inc" or something similar; depending on your phone you may need to press an option on your call screen to show the full number. If the number displayed is 515-288-2828, please ignore the call.
Please know that Shazam will never call and ask for sensitive information listed above. All official Shazam alerts will come from the following numbers:
- 72718 for all text alerts
- 855-219-5399 for all automated phone calls
Additionally, scam callers are also using our very own phone number, 208-232-7711, and are claiming to be an employee of the credit union. Please know that if we ever reach out to a member we follow a strict phone protocol that does not divulge sensitive personal information (i.e. social security number, credit card numbers, related family member information, etc.).
If you think you're on the phone with a scammer (i.e. the caller is asking for sensitive information linked to Advantage Plus FCU), please hang up IMMEDIATLY and notify your local branch with details of the call (phone number, who they claim to be, what information they we're trying to obtain). Shazam Fraud Services are aware of the issue and are actively trying to rectify the problem, but they need all the information they can get. Again, if you have any information or a personal experience with these callers, please let us know. Thank You.

We're Upgrading Your Debit Card!
Advantage Plus FCU will be adding a Dual Interface Chip to new debit cards so you can make contactless payments at compatible payment terminals.

Make sure your contact info is up to date
If you have moved since becoming a member, please let your local branch know so we can update your mailing address. Your new debit card may have been sent back to us if your mailing address is not current.
For security reasons, you must call using your primary phone number to activate your new debit card. If your primary phone number has changed, please let your local branch know so we can update it.
Update your saved debit card info
Some websites, such as Amazon, Venmo, and Netflix, allow you to save your card info for faster shopping and automatic payments. Once your new card is activated, you will need to update your expiration date and any other info that has changed anywhere you have your debit card info saved.
Contact us if you need help
If you have any questions or need assistance with your debit card, please email us at [email protected] or contact your local branch.
